Stunt Park is an action packed epicenter of stunt action experiences located in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was founded by international expert stunt instructor, Colin Handley who has been managing a successful stunt training program for over 22 years at the location.
When Rapid Fire Web Design approached me for help with the Stunt Park website, it was in need of an update. The site was slow and relied too heavily on third-party page builder plugins that proved costly to the website’s performance. I also identified issues with the design that needed improvement to better align it with Stunt Park’s goals, so I recommended a full website redesign along with a complete re-write of the theme to improve the user experience and loading times.
Rapid Fire Web Design then worked directly with Stunt Park to redesign their website and later contacted me to develop the custom WordPress theme based on the mockups. The design included a large number of landing pages with plans for adding more in the future.
My challenge was to create a way for the user to not only easily recreate and manage the designed mockups, but to be able to add more pages in the future while staying true to the design. I had already done some work with the Easy Widget Columns plugin and the Widgetized Page Template plugin, and this design presented the perfect opportunity to use both along with a suite of custom widgets representing design block elements for creating landing pages.
When a user wants to create a new landing page, they first select the “Widgetized Page” template from the Template dropdown. When the page is saved, the main editor is replaced with a message and a link that redirects the user to the corresponding Customizer settings panel. Here they can add widgets (design block elements) and easily arrange them into rows of columns by assigning width values to each widget.
Each custom widget is styled by the theme individually so they always look the same no matter which page it is being added into. The result is an intuitive live editing experience that is flexible by giving the user many layout options all while maintaining the integrity of the design.
Highly recommended to us, Alexis came with a warning though, “you'll want him building all your sites there after”. So very true as Alexis is a proven perfect fit for developing functional WordPress themes from our provided design mockups.
Alexis implemented a unique approach for Stunt Park that involved using widgets as design block elements within pages (widgetized pages), providing more flexibility updating and creating new pages easily. This intuitive solution made it possible to develop all fourteen custom page templates designs within budget. This project also included intricate WooCommerce integration involving extra product options.
True to his name’s meaning, Alexis is the ultimate helper developer-wise given his strong communication skills, efficiency, accuracy, high quality professional solutions, and absolutely dedicated client focus.
